With so many different CBD products available, it can be hard to determine which product to choose. Each form of CBD is unique in its administration and features. To help you determine which form may best fit your needs, we’ve outlined differences between the major categories of CBD products: Hemp Oil Concentrates, CBD Tinctures, Vape Oils, Edibles, and CBD Topicals.
When it comes to potency and purity, you can’t beat a CBD concentrate. Concentrates contain only CBD-rich oil extracted from hemp plants. While no other ingredients have been added, some concentrates may undergo additional processing in order to provide further benefits. For instance, our Proprietary Hemp Extract Green Label is a whole plant extract that has not been processed, while the Blue Label has been heated to activate its cannabinoids, and the Gold Label has been filtered to provide the maximum potency of the product.
Potency – A potent product with a high concentration of phytocannabinoids, concentrates are also packed with phytonutrients.
Taste – Because
concentrates contain no added ingredients, they maintain the natural flavor of
hemp. This is a powerful, earthy taste that is unpleasant for some people.
Discreetness – Hemp oil concentrates are packaged in an oral syringe. The syringe makes it
easy to measure how much of the product you are using, but it does not maintain
the level of discreetness available from other CBD products.
Hemp oil tinctures are the most popular CBD product. They are an oil-based liquid supplement taken using a dropper or spray bottle.
Speed & Potency – Like concentrates, tinctures are designed to be taken sublingually, allowing them to work quickly within the body. Tinctures are also available in a range of potencies for individual needs.
Taste – While some tinctures are available in natural or unflavored versions, many tinctures contain ingredients that give the oil a pleasant, familiar taste, like French Vanilla, Berry, or Spearmint.
Use – Consuming tinctures requires a few steps: measuring the oil using the
dropper top; placing the oil under the tongue; holding it there for 60-90
seconds; and swallowing. If you don’t want to worry about measuring the oil out
or feel uncomfortable with holding the oil under your tongue, you may want to
consider an edible like a softgel. Each capsule contains a premeasured amount
of CBD and can be swallowed immediately.
Vape oils are another hemp oil-based product used in compatible vaporizers. Vaping is considered a relaxing activity, due to the deep breaths that are taken during the vaping process.
Vaping is the fastest way for CBD to enter your system, even faster than
Taste – Many vape oil concentrates are flavored to mask the hemp taste. Our vape oil
concentrates are available in Citrus, Mint, and Kush flavors.
Use – If you are familiar with vaping, vaping with a CBD product is no
different. If you’re new to vaping, the process is simple: fill your vaporizer
with the oil, take deep breaths in through the mouthpiece, and release.
Discreetness – The act of vaping encompasses more than just vaping CBD. However, vaping in
itself is an obvious activity, and you may not be able to vape in all
locations. If you want to be able to enjoy CBD throughout the day, but in a
more private manner, vaping may not be the right choice for you.
Edible CBD products include softgel capsules, gummies, chocolates, candies, and more. CBD extracts are also being incorporated into an increasing number of food products, including coffee, cocktails, and ice cream.
Products like CBD capsules are designed to be tasteless, but gummies and
chocolates are crafted with flavor at the forefront. Any of these products
allows you to enjoy the benefits of CBD without the hempy taste.
Use & Discreetness – CBD edibles resemble more general supplement or
edible products, so they are easy, familiar, and discreet to use.
& Potency – Edibles must pass through all parts of the digestive system
before going to work in the body, so they take longer to begin working. And,
some potency is lost during digestion.
Ease of Use – A CBD topical is used in the same way as a non-CBD topical. Whether you are incorporating a CBD moisturizer or serum into your facecare routine, or applying a CBD salve to a sore knee or back, simply apply as you would any other topical.
Discreetness – CBD skincare products can easily be incorporated into an existing skincare routine.
Functionality – This form of product is topical, rather than transdermal. This means that while they are absorbed into the skin, they do not enter the bloodstream. This makes topicals ideal for targeting specific areas of the body. CBD products made from industrial hemp contain a maximum of 0.3% THC, making them non-psychoactive, but there is still a trace amount of THC entering your system. If your employer requires drug testing, if you are taking prescription medications, or simply do not want any THC in your system, a topical is an ideal choice.
Functionality – It can be a pro that the CBD in topicals doesn’t enter the bloodstream.
However, if you are looking for a CBD product that will work within and
throughout the body, you will want to consider using an orally consumed CBD
product along with your CBD topicals
This is by no means an exhaustive list of CBD products
available for purchase. However, it should give you a better sense of what each
product category has to offer, and which may be the best fit for your needs.
